Gummibjörn is in the House! Stories from Yria

At last! The illustrations keep rolling in. I will have so much more to share soon, and thanks to the wonderfully patient supporters of MYRE Vol. 2, I get to dive deeper into worldbuilding and bring fun little stories to life, featuring their personal characters!

This one is about Gummibjörn! He is a traveling merchant who shows up every few months with rare and curious goods. Jahnz, the owner of the local pub, has to stock up more and more with each visit but still runs out of drinks and glasses faster than he can blink. Gummibjörn and Boozer will sit for at least two days and nights straight, crowding the tables with snacks, mugs, and stories.

Over time, the villagers have learned to gather when Gummibjörn arrives, eager to hear his wild tales. But newcomers, unaware of the spectacle, often find themselves dry and frustrated as Gummi joyfully flings booze and banter around the room. Eventually, they learn: these two days are sacred, reserved for the tellers.

I hope you enjoy this painting! It took me a long time to make because I couldn't decide for the background and composition. At first, it was simply just the three, Gummi, Boozer and Jahnz. I kept painting but felt that everything was off about it. Revisiting the painting every now and then made me think up the story and break up the entire background to fill it with people. Even though indecisiveness is a huge challenge in the early stage of a painting, it's the path of problem solving and telling stories that give pictures more depth.
